Microsoft has unveiled the Windows 11 22H2 ‘Moment 3’ update, introducing a range of highly anticipated features to the operating system. This update marks a significant shift in Microsoft’s approach to OS updates, with Windows 11 receiving one major feature update per year, unlike its predecessor, Windows 10.
However, Microsoft has introduced a new update process called “Moments,” allowing for regular feature additions throughout the year. The Moment 3 update, the third in the series, focuses on enhancing user privacy, introducing new app privacy settings that provide greater transparency and control over personal information, as well as a glanceable VPN feature for secure internet connections.
The Moment 3 update also emphasizes security improvements, as Microsoft integrates the Pluton security processor from chip to cloud. This integration enhances protection against malware, hardware attacks, and credential security, expanding Pluton’s availability to more AMD systems.
Furthermore, Microsoft introduces account badging in the Start menu, alerting users when their accounts require attention and enhancing data and PC protection.
Accessibility is also a key focus of the update, with expanded live captions for audio content and the introduction of Bluetooth® Low Energy Audio in collaboration with Samsung Galaxy and Intel.
Windows 11’s Moment 3 update brings improvements to widgets, offering a larger layout for user-pinned apps and a personalized feed for quick access to news and a collection of widgets.
Microsoft also previews new security innovations, such as token protection for sign-ins, Windows 365 Boot, and enhanced isolation capabilities for Win32 apps.
